Hello, lovelies! It’s been a minute since I last shared my musings, but I promise I’ve been elbows-deep in cannabis magic—just not sharing it with you yet. Well, buckle up, because we have so much to catch up on!
For the past two and a half years, I’ve had the honor of managing the longest-established dispensary in Colorado, and it’s been nothing short of incredible. Every day, I’ve had the privilege of chatting with hundreds of customers, patients, brand reps, CEOs, and even the founders of some of your favorite cannabis brands. Talk about diving headfirst into the world of cannabis! The stories, insights, and lessons I’ve gathered could fill a book (maybe someday they will!). But for now, I’m ready to pour all of that knowledge into Mary J’s Apothecary and share it with you—because trust me, there’s a LOT coming your way.
What I’ve Been Up To
In my role as dispensary manager, I’ve had the chance to connect with so many people who are looking for more than just a buzz—they’re seeking balance, relief, and wellness. Some of the encounters have been heartwarming, others deeply humbling. Just last week, two women in their 50s—reunited college friends who hadn’t seen each other in over 10 years—stopped by. They weren’t after anything heavy, just something to help them feel relaxed and present during their trip. We found them a lovely, low-dose solution, and watching their relief and happiness unfold reminded me why I love this work so much.
Then there are the moms who come in searching for simple micro-dosing solutions. A 2.5 mg edible might not seem like much, but for these women juggling kids, work, and life, it’s a game changer. Something so small can provide the subtle boost they need without the jitters of caffeine and without the inevitable crash. Moments like these remind me how seamlessly cannabis can fit into daily routines, making life smoother and more manageable. It’s not just about “getting high”—it’s about finding a tool for everyday life that supports balance and wellness.
But cannabis isn’t just about relaxation. Sometimes, it’s about deep healing and relief from real physical suffering. I remember taking a call from a young man in his late 20s battling cancer. He was looking for an Indica tincture to help manage his pain and stimulate his appetite. This call hit home for me, striking a personal note—I use cannabis as a medicine myself, to stimulate my appetite and manage muscle spasms. We were able to find something that I hope will bring him relief, but it also reminded me that not everyone is as fortunate.
A close friend’s mother was also battling cancer, but due to the laws in her state, she didn’t have the same access to cannabis. The contrast between these two situations weighs heavily on me, a stark reminder of how much stigma and legality still restrict access to this powerful plant. Cannabis is a medicine—one that we should all have the right to choose for ourselves. Everyone deserves access to it and the opportunity to decide if it’s the right choice for their health and well-being.
Let’s Get Real About Cannabis
The potential for this plant is enormous, whether it’s for stress relief, pain management, or even aiding with social anxiety. Cannabis is evolving, and so are we as consumers. It’s time to shift the narrative and fully embrace its medicinal and wellness benefits, without stigma or hesitation. But remember, I’m not here to promise that cannabis is a miracle cure, though I sure as hell am going to share the many wonderful qualities it has! It may or may not be the right fit for you specifically—and that’s totally okay, too. If you have questions, though, don’t hesitate to ask!
